Two-factor authentication (2FA) is
a system wherein two different factors are used to authenticate a system
login. Using two factors as opposed to one delivers a higher level of
authentication assurance. Using more than one factor is sometimes called
strong authentication.
The CNS 2FA solution combines
something you have - your mobile phone - with something you know - your
password - to complete a strong authentication solution.
When a subscriber logs into a
system protected by CNS 2FA, they must first enter their regular user
name and password. We then send the registered mobile device a
random PIN code via SMS, and prompt for the same code on the login
screen. The subscriber must enter the correct PIN code to complete
the login procedure.
2FA renders key loggers
ineffective because the PIN code changes every login attempt. A
stolen password is only 1/2 the information needed to login - the
attacker must also have your mobile device in their hand to read the PIN
code and enter it. Brute force hacks are out of the question.

Two ways to send a code to your
mobile device:

Just about every mobile provider
has a special domain name that they reserve for SMS messages. By
utilizing the providers eMail->SMS gateway, CNS 2FA services are
completely free to the subscriber. Normal mobile provider SMS
charges apply. We have compiled a large list of email domains for
providers around the world to help you setup your mobile device.
In most cases you will only need your complete mobile phone number to

It is also possible to send the
2FA code to a simple email address, but we recommend sending the code
straight to your phone for maximum security.
SMS Direct - US$19/month:
Some providers may have slow eMail->SMS
response, or do not have an eMail->SMS gateway at all. We
also offer a premium SMS direct service that is compatible with most
mobile phones in the world. The monthly fee is US$19 for direct
SMS delivery to your provider. Normal mobile provider SMS charges
also apply.
How to subscribe:
To subscribe to the free CNS 2FA
version, that utilizes your mobile providers eMail->SMS gateway:

Login to your CNS control
panel

Click 'System' at the top/left

Click 'Add Application" and
add the application "CNS 2FA" to your subscription.

Then click on
the desktop shortcut "CNS 2FA Config" to register your mobile device.
To subscribe to the SMS Direct
version, add the application "CNS 2FA SMS Direct" to your subscription.
You should already have subscribed to "CNS 2FA" before adding the SMS
Direct service. Next, click on the desktop shortcut "CNS 2FA Config" to register your
mobile device.
