v1.0 Features
-
Remote sound has been enabled
-
Remote printing has been enabled
-
IIS/SMTP/POP3 services have been disabled to reduce the risk of worms and other exploits infecting your VE
-
DHCP client has been disabled. It is not needed and only consumes valuable resources
-
Remote desktop also listens on port 80, to help get through the most difficult firewalls
(enter your IP:80 in the remote desktop client, i.e. 127.0.1.2:80)
-
Disconnected remote desktop sessions will ALWAYS logon to the existing (disconnected) session, instead of starting a new session
-
Automatic remote desktop reconnection has been enabled
-
Remote Desktop session keep-alive has been enabled, to keep your ISP from disconnecting you during idle time
-
Software firewall has been enabled, placing your VE behind TWO firewalls (a hardware Cisco firewall and a software Windows firewall)
-
Encrypted remote desktop sessions are fully supported (enable in your remote desktop client).
-
The screen saver has been disabled. You can re-enable it by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting 'screen saver'.
-
IE Enhanced security configuration has been disabled by popular demand, allowing you to more easily surf the Internet. It can easily be re-enabled if desired from the control panel->add/remove programs->windows components.
NOTE: Virtual desktops should not be used
to run any type of server. Please setup a virtual server to run server
software. Please review
the differences between a virtual server and virtual desktop for more
information.
