END OF LIFE for Shared Web hosting

CNS has been offering shared web hosting since the mid 1990's, when it was not cost effective for each subscriber to setup a dedicated server to host their web site.  As a result of the advances in technology and falling virtual server price points, we are no longer offering new shared web hosting subscriptions.

Of course, web hosting is still available!  However, advances in virtual server technology and the advantages it brings negates any benefits in shared web hosting.  Shared web hosting was always 'shared'.  Different sites sharing the same web server allowed for one site to impact another during busy periods.  As the server is shared, subscribers were always limited to which server side components they could install (none actually), because we always had to consider how it might impact other subscribers.

With virtual servers starting at US$20/month, it is no longer reasonable to continue with shared web hosting.  Virtual servers allow subscribers to setup their web sites in a virtual private server - a platform that allows the subscriber to setup their own software, components, security permissions, databases, etc..  It is a much more flexible and secure solution.
